    08 CBR1000RR Track Build

OK I figured I would share my current project with you guys, so here goes...

    Bike
    Year: 2008
    Make: Honda
    Model: CBR 1000 RR

    Objective
I want to start doing track days so I started prepping my bike. I think Ive gone a little off the deep end, but I got some outrageously good deals recently. I couldn't bring myself to track it with the candy red fairings so I sold them while they were still valuable and pretty. So I sold the factory plastics and used the money for the build.

    Pics pre build

Couple weeks after picking it up from Action Honda

    Upgrades:
-Akrapovic slip on / Yoshi heat shield
    -BMC race filter
    -Bazzaz Z-Fi
    -Bazzaz Z-Bomb
    -Vortex -1 front sprocket
    -Hotbodies rear hugger
    -Zero Gravity double bubble
    -Honda Racing solo seat cover
-Honda Racing carbon fiber tank trim
    Mods:
    -Intake flapper delete
-Custom under tail / Tag bracket
    -Stock tail light modded
    -Pair system delete
    -Fan switch mod

    Build pics

so I picked up a Hotbodies HRC / Ten Kate Fairing kit w/ wind screen from a Honda dealer on eBay for $179 shipped .....

I was pretty satisfied with the fit and finish of the upper, lower, and front fender, but the tail section was a joke! Mounting points were completely off and there where large gaps were the tail section meets the subframe.

So I contacted Hotbodies customer support about the issue with the tail section. I was really surprised when they sent me a upgraded WSBK tail section at no cost! They said they are custom making it and I should be receiving it shortly....

    Parts on order:
    -Vortex rearsets (black)
    -FP shorty levers (black)
    -Michelen Pilot Pures
    -Hotbodies HRC tank shelter
    -Motoholders HRC subframe
    -Gafler SS brake lines

    Onto the progress:

I had to fab up a bracket for the tip sensor and relays (originally attached to the headlight assembly)

    Removing the stock subframe

I had some company, my beautiful wife and daughter watching intently

    Stock subframe removed

    Stock Subframe batt box removed

Here's the wiring mess I have to consolidate and clean up after the new Motoholders subframe is installed

    Air box

    Airbox upper removed

    Airbox lower removed

    Pair system

    Removed Pair valve

    Capped off the vents

Test fitted the DZUS fasteners, Picked them up from http://www.kurveygirl.com/shop/
    $16 shipped

More to come, I'll keep it updated!

I do however need idea's for a paint scheme ......

    thanks for looking

Honestly I don't have much out of pocket for this project, the OEM fairing set sold for close to $1k .... I picked up the hotbodies set for less than $200

I have some set aside for some track days I just need to find the time to go....

Should I go all out for Öhlins or are there other economically priced choices out there? what about Race Tech? could I just order up a valve and spring kit for my weight?

I think computer viruses should count as life. I think it says something about human nature that the only form of life we have created so far is purely destructive. We've created life in our own image.

    *UPDATE*

-Got the Motoholders Subframe in! pretty sick looking and weights nothing! Its a HRC copy basically, same one used on the Ten Kate Hannspree SBK 1000RR!

-Here it is mounted up, I cant use the supplied battery box, Im assuming its made to work with the HRC ECU and harness because my stock stuff is no wear near fitting correctly

-After ALOT of trimming and patients I got the stock battery tray to fit in there. It was a PITA but I think it turned out pretty clean and almost has that original factory look to it

-Also got the SBK tail in from Hotbodies! the quality is nice and sturdy and fit and finish is perfect!

-Something about a sexy tail ......

    -Gafler brake lines

    -Rear brake line mounted

-Could eat off my sprocket after I cleaned it .....

-11K + miles on my original chain! Im pretty meticulous when it comes to cleaning and lubing my chain ...

Well dropping the tail off at my buddies paint shop today! cant wait to get this done! Im itching to ride it

Not really. lol All the pix of mine are on track pix

I really don't have much done to mine, I spend all my money on fuel getting to the track and TIRES!

    My mods list is SHORT.
Leo Slip on (and have a Taylor Made slip-on coming in)
    Bazzazzazazza FI-TC, AFM and Z-Bomb
    Braided Front lines.
    Hot Bodies
    HRC Throttle kit.
    ZG Wind Screen

One of these days I hope to get the AFM in and working!

Might even set up the suspension one of these days, or at lest the sag.
